Hagoromo myth

Once upon a time, there was a fisherman named Hakuryo who lived in the village of Miho. One day he found some beautiful clothes that hung on the branch of a pine tree. When he was about to bring them to his home as a treasure, a celestial maiden appeared and said, “Those are the robes of maiden of the gods I was wearing.” She continued, “I can’t journey back to the spirit world without them. Please return them to me.” And she burst into tears. Hakuryo agreed to do so on the condition that she danced in the sky for him. The celestial maiden did so after he gave her robes back dancing and performing for him on her return to the spirit world. It is said that she bestowed the landscape with beauty forever in spring-time.
